IBF Regional Director Responsibilities

There are four (4) Regional Directors. Directors are solicited in October of each year from the Club Chapters and appointments made by the Board in October for a year. There is no restriction the number to terms a Director may serve.

It is very important that the President and Board take great care in selecting individuals to serve as Directors. Candidates should possess a genuine desire and willingness to work for, and in, the best interest of each club, the district and the Federation as a whole.

Upon accepting the Director's position, the individual assumes certain obligations and expectations. They are expected to be active and involved in the many faces of the organization.

A Director should be willing to:

  1. Attend all Board Meetings representing his Region's concerns and be prepared to report on his region. There are a minimum of four (4) board meetings per year usually in February, April, October and December. Additional meetings may be called by the President.

  2. In concert with the other Regional Directors, arrange, schedule and offer two (2) regional meetings a year for club Chapters usually in Fall and Spring.

  3. Assist, guide, advise, provide input or possibly conduct the 8-Man Team Tournament, the State Buddy Tournaments or Open Trail Events.

  4. Help coordinate or assist in Federation special projects such as i.e. Sport and Travel Shows, the "Shriners Hospitals for Children" Benefit Programs, Boat Raffle Program, etc...

  5. Maintain personal contact with Club Chapters within his district and assist them as needed. To encourage and present "Matching Funds" requests for youth and conservation programs in their region.

  6. Encourage clubs to become involved and active in Federation programs.

  7. Solicit individual club articles for the Illinois B.A.S.S. Federations official newspaper "Heartland Outdoors". To write a minimum of one article a year concerning the region.

  8. Assist Clubs in receiving proper recognition for their projects and public service functions that reflect favorably upon the Chapter and Federation, i.e. local media, newsletters, etc...

A Director wears many hats. They are an avenue of information, a facilitator, a solicitor, a decision maker and a worker. It is imperative that prospective candidates be made aware of these expectations and that Chapter Clubs actively seek the best possible candidates for their region.
