IBF Open Trail

Open Trail 2008

The third stop of the Season is now behind us on our quest for qualifying for the end of Year “ Mike James Memorial Classic”.

Although the River had been at flood stages prior to the Tournament on Pool 13, by the time we arrived, the River had come down some and was Fishable.  We had a few storms roll through the area Friday and again on Saturday night, which brought dirty Water and strong current conditions to the Pool.

Sunday’s take off was delayed 15 minutes due to a Fog Bank that had entered the area but that didn’t seem to be a factor toward finding and catching the Bass for most of the contestants.  We had a total of 196 Bass brought to the scales by the 48 Pros and the 45 Co-Anglers who competed. 14 Anglers were able to bring the five Fish, Tournament Limit in at the end of the Event.

Not a bad Day considering practice for most of the field reported not finding many Fish on Friday and Saturday’s practice.

Our Pro Division Winner of the Tournament was our 2007 “Angler of the Year, Steve Anderson.  Steve brought a Limit of Bass to the Scales totaling 15.37 Pounds, which earned Him a check for $1350.72.  He also was our “Ranger Cup” Winner of the Event which added an extra $500.00 to His earnings giving Him a total Purse of $ 1850.72 for His efforts. Fantastic job Steve!

In our Co-Angler division, Chuck Davis brought the winning bag to the scales.  Chuck’s five Fish weighed in at 10.06 Pounds securing the Top slot for Him.  He earned a check in the amount of $ 992.25 and a plaque for His fine effort.  Chuck reported catching His Fish by pitching Black Neon Tube Bait in Miller’s Lake in water 2 to 3 feet deep to secure the win!  Good job!

Big Bass Honors on the Pro side went to Kerry Trueblood.   Kerry’s Big Bass tipped the scales at 4.71 Pounds earning Him a plaque and a check totaling $ 240.00. Very nice River Bass Kerry!

On the Co- Angler side of things, Steve Warfield had the largest Bass of the Tournament weighing in at 4.14 Pounds.  Steve’s Big Bass earned Him a plaque for His efforts and a check in the amount of $ 225.00. Another fine River Bass!
